SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE VOTER OUTREACH DIVISION


Private Elections

The Voter Outreach Division conducts private elections for schools and organizations at no charge. Examples of private elections include student government and homecoming queen elections. The AVC Edge voting machines (like those used for early voting) are used to conduct the elections. The voting machines are subject to availability. The Outreach staff will deliver the machines and stay for the duration of the election to operate the machines.

Private elections may also be coordinated and/or conducted in conjunction with the local Clerk of Court and/or Registrar of Voters Office.

*A request for an election must be submitted two weeks prior to the election date. The organization’s name, contact information and the date and time for the election must be specified.

NOTE: If a school or organization is interested in conducting an election using paper ballots or the larger AVC Advantage voting machines (like those used on election day), please contact Naomi Guidroz at 225.342.4479. In addition, please note that these services are provided at a cost and are subject to availability.


Voting Machine Demonstrations

The Voter Outreach Division presents voter machine demonstrations for schools and organizations at no charge. The Edge voting machines are used to conduct the demonstrations. The voting machines are subject to availability. The Outreach staff will deliver the machines and stay for the duration of the demonstration to operate the machines.

Demonstrations may also be coordinated and/or conducted in conjunction with the local Clerk of Court and/or Registrar of Voters Office.

Voter Registration Drives

Voter registration drives for Louisianians 17 or older are conducted and facilitated by the Voter Outreach Division. The staff travels throughout the state to participate in voter registration initiatives.

In addition, voter registration applications may be obtained in bulk by e-mailing the address below. Please indicate the number of applications needed.

*Please note that no third party organization can alter any information contained on the voter registration application.

IMPORTANT: Under the provisions of R.S. 18:1461A(23), all completed voter registration applications received by a third party voter registration drive must be turned into the parish registrar of voters’ office within 30 days. Violators of this provision shall be fined not more than $1,000 or be imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.


Educational Presentations

“The Importance of Voting” is an informative presentation by the Voter Outreach Division. The presentation ranges from five to 15 minutes, depending on the audience and the amount of time allotted by the organization. 

Louisiana Packets

Information packets about the great state of Louisiana are distributed by the Voter Outreach Division. Louisiana has such a unique and interesting history and the “Louisiana Facts” brochure provides informative and helpful information about the state.
