DIRECT COMPUTER ACCESS  SERVICE

What is Direct Access?

Through a joint endeavor between the Secretary of State's office and the Clerks of Court, dial-up direct computer access for Uniform Commercial Code information became available on July 1, 1995. Direct access allows the user to search our IBM AS400 database by tax identification number or to browse alphabetically by business or individual name.

How does it work?

The user must have a personal computer equipped with a modem capable of communicating at a minimum speed of 2400 bps. The modem must support V.42 data compression and error correction protocols. A modem supporting speeds of 14.4 kbps or higher is highly recommended to take full advantage of the service. Please see the Direct Access Service Agreement page for details.

What does it cost?

The annual fee for dial-up direct access service is $400 for U.C.C. information per user password. The fee allows the user unlimited usage for the contracted time. Additional passwords may be requested at amy time.
