McKinley Middle Academic Magnet
On April 24, 2008, Secretary Dardenne joined seventh and eighth grade students at McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School in Baton Rouge to announce the official release of the GeauxVote Election 2008: Road to the White House civic education program. Approximately 400 McKinley Middle School students piloted the election journal from February through April 2008.
The Road to the White House was developed by the Old State Capitol's education department and adopted by Secretary Dardenne as Louisiana's official 2008 K-12 voter education program. The program helps students explore and document the 2008 presidential election season from the nomination phase of the season through the January 2009 inauguration of a new president.
Secretary Dardenne will present the Road to the White House at the National Association of Secretaries of State Conference in July of 2008 and offer it for educational use on the national level.
