CHENNAULT AVIATION AND MILITARY MUSEUM
Monroe
The feel of a still-sturdy uniform, the gleam of lovingly polished medals, the curve of a well-used spoon and the crooked lip of a bent metal cup -- history is told through the stories of ordinary things and extraordinary men and women. Louisiana plays a pivotal role in our nation's aviation and military history, which the museum strives to promote and preserve.
The museum is housed in one of the last remaining buildings used by the Selman Field Army-Air Corps Navigation School. It features a variety of historical exhibits about Louisiana natives Gen. Claire Lee Chennault and astronaut Jim Halsell, as well as exhibits on Selman Field itself. Additional exhibits include vintage aircraft and radio equipment, space travel and the history of Delta Air Lines.
